Sow a Kiwi

Sow a Kiwi

Understanding creates better collaboration.

Many collaboration problems are treated as communication problems. But communication is rarely where things begin. Sow a Kiwi works at the start of that chain — understanding what a team is actually carrying before recommending what to do about it.

Most teams that ask for help with communication aren't struggling with communication. They are carrying more than is visible — and that load shapes everything downstream.

Sow a Kiwi exists to understand that first. Before the workshop. Before the framework. Before the recommendation. Understanding is not a preliminary step. It is the work.

The Mapping Framework

The discipline Sow a Kiwi uses, live, in a facilitated session — moving from a raw observation to a proportionate next step, without diagnosing anyone along the way.

01

Signal

A specific, describable behaviour, word or moment — not an impression of character.

Nothing is assumed yet. A signal is only ever named, never explained.

02

Pattern

A signal repeating or connecting with others — not a one-off.

One instance is an event. More than one, and a shape starts to appear.

03

Human Load

A grounded hypothesis about what could plausibly be producing a pattern.

A pattern points somewhere. Human load is the honest, still-unproven guess at where.

04

Understanding

A human load hypothesis tested with the people involved — not assumed by the facilitator.

A hypothesis stays a guess until the people who live it confirm, correct or reshape it.

05

Intervention

A proportionate next step named from tested understanding — previewed in the session, carried out afterward.

Only tested understanding earns a next step. Nothing is prescribed before that.

When we address what happens upstream, we can change what happens downstream.

“Good collaboration begins with the will to understand.”
